Cape Coral shows respect

November 16, 2017
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

I was at CocoFest on Saturday and I was struck by two things. The first was the sense of community and the respect paid to our veterans in attendance. The singing of the National Anthem was moving. All stood, all placed hand over heart and not one person showed disrespect.

The second was more a thought than evidence. The presence of the Cape Police was obvious and well received. I wondered to myself, with a large crowd, many toting chairs in large bags, what are the chances that a crazy had packed an arsenal to shoot up the place. Then I wondered how many people were concealed carry at the show. And then I wondered why in such a great community that we have to be concerned with horrible thoughts. I think many in Texas, sitting in the church pews, had the same concerns.
