Special to The Breeze ( , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Oktoberfest was a success, and despite Hurricane Irma and Tropical Storm Felipe, the annual event brought huge crowds to the grounds of the German American Social Club on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral. Yet the club is not slowing down the next festival is fast approaching!

It's time for the Christkindlmarkt the German Christmas Market! This year, held on Saturday, Dec. 2, from noon until 8 p.m., the Christmas market has been entirely reorganized and will be bigger and better than ever. With more of everything - more German tradition, more trees, more ornaments, more music, more crafts, more gifts, more fun for the entire family!

This year, the club is teaming up with vendors from the community, such as The Shell Factory, Cold Stone Creamery, The Doener, CW Fudge Factory, Geier's, Darvy Landscaping and local crafts makers as well as its in-house GALS crafts to offer something magical to the Southwest Florida community. There will be glass etching, woodworking, nutcrackers, unique gifts, Christmas ornaments, Advent wreaths and loom work on display.

In addition to the club's very own Hafenkapelle, Edelweiss Chorus and accordion player Peter Dee, there will be music offered by the Teresa Mayer & Petra Klos, locals from Punta Gorda who appeared with Die Lustigen Almdudler at Oktoberfest, bringing older beloved German songs, plus the Hot Flashz Dancers will be there, a popular local dance troop.

Delicious aromas will fill the air with food options ranging from potato pancakes, schnitzel sandwiches, curry wurst, Leberkaese, Doener Kebab, German baked goods, ice cream, plus an assortment of German Christmas goodies to take home with you, from Lebkuchen, Stollen, chocolate Nikolaus, rum cakes, fudge - and the list simply goes on!

The Shell Factory will have a petting zoo for the kids! Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride and all the other fun stuff to do, too!

Do you have a beer stein you have inherited or one that you cherish? Or just interested in beer steins in general? World renowned Master Steinologist George Schamberg-er, a member of Stein Collectors International, will be on site to talk steins! Bring yours along for the discussion.

Enjoy some great German beers, a cup of Gluehwein, some great food and holiday cheer. It will be a day of fun and will ring in the holiday season right. Oh, and you don't want to miss St. Nick & Santa Claus, too!
