Heartfelt thanks

November 10, 2017
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the voters of Cape Coral for electing me to the City Council for District 1. I am honored and humbled that you have placed your trust in me.

It has been so encouraging to meet so many new people. During my campaign travels, I've met not only residents in Cape Coral, but many business owners. The support I felt on Election Day and during the campaign was incredible and I owe it to you.

There are so many people to thank. I want to start by thanking my wife and family for their love and support. To the many volunteers who came forward to assist with my campaign, I say a big THANK YOU! We couldn't have succeeded without your help, and guidance by some.

Not only am I thankful for your support, but also for all the candidates who ran to serve their communities and seek solutions for public problems. It is not easy to put oneself out there in such a public forum, so I give credit to those with the initiative to do so.

With your trust, I will work tirelessly on your behalf to help address challenges and to secure lasting and meaningful improvements to your quality of life in our community. I will work hard to raise the level of expectation on all our decisions to improve the needs of Cape Coral.

I know that teamwork and community input is vital to the success of our vision. I will always respect, and listen, to any citizen who has an opinion to share on any issue. I will always have an open-door policy and welcome any citizen who may have a desire to meet.

Now that the campaign is over it is time to get to work. As a business owner, I know that you are judged by your accomplishments. I know actions always speak louder than words and I am encouraged to show proven results for our city.

I want to thank each citizen who voted for me and to give "us" an opportunity to become a better community. Also, if I did not earn your vote, I look forward to earning your respect, and trust, by working hard for "every" citizen in our community.

Again, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve our community, and I will work extremely hard to make you proud to call Cape Coral your home.

John Gunter

Cape Coral City Council-Elect, District 1
