Toomey receives Accredited in Public Relations designation

Rachel Toomey, APR, of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association recently earned professional public relations accreditation, and received the designation of Accredited in Public Relations.

Toomey joins the more than 4,300 active public relations professionals worldwide who represent an elite group of skilled professionals committed to practicing with high ethical standards, including 35 currently in southwest Florida.

Toomey is the media director for Priority Marketing of Southwest Florida, where she has worked since 2006. A Cape Coral resident, she earned a master's degree in integrated marketing communication and a bachelor's degree in advertising from Florida State University.

To earn public relations accreditation, candidates must pass an oral presentation and rigorous written examination administered by the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB), which is an alliance of eight national and statewide professional associations dedicated to furthering the field of public relations and the development of public relations professionals. FPRA is a member of the UAB.

Established in 1938, the Florida Public Relations Association is the oldest public relations organization in the United States. FPRA is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida appoints Blanco as new marketing director

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida announced recently that Amy Blanco has joined the team as the new marketing director. Blanco comes with a background in traditional and experiential marketing, a degree in graphic design and 10 years experience with volunteering for local charities in Southwest Florida.

She has spent the last three years advancing from an entry level to a management position, which has given her the tools and skills to succeed in her new position with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children and their families in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties. RMHC of SWFL supports The Ronald McDonald House, The Ronald McDonald Family Room, The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Grants and Scholarship Programs.

New partners named at MNMW

Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co., P.A. has announced four new partners to the firm, Tami Cindrich, CPA, CHBC; Angela Cooley, CPA, CCIFP; Kelsey Griffin, CPA, CFE; and Victoria Loyola, CPA, CHBC.

Cooley joined MNMW in 2002, earning her bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of South Florida. She is a certified construction industry financial professional, specializing in tax and strategic business consulting for construction companies.

Griffin first began with MNMW in 2006, earning her bachelor of science degrees in accounting and management from the University of South Florida and a masters degree in accounting and taxation from Florida Gulf Coast University. She is a certified fraud examiner in the firm's Litigation Support, Forensic Accounting, and Mediation Services division.

Loyola has been with MNMW since 2005, earning her bachelor of science degree in accounting, and her natters degree in accounting and taxation from Florida Gulf Coast University. She is a certified healthcare business consultant, and works closely with medical and dental practices.

Wright joins Henderson Franklin, Starnes &?Holt

The law firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., has announced that Attorney Jeff Wright has joined the firm's Land Use & Environmental Law division. He will practice out of the firm's Bonita Springs office and will focus on land use matters in both Collier and Lee counties.

Wright is Florida Bar Board certified in city, county and local government law. His expertise includes Florida's Sunshine Law and Public Records Law, and all matters involving city, county, and local governments, including towns, villages, special districts, and community development districts. Wright represents private property owners, associations, and investors in land use and permitting matters.

Lee Health hires four new physician leaders

Lee Health recently welcomed four new physicians to fill the roles of acute care medical officer at each of its hospitals. The ACMO works with a nurse vice president of patient care services in a shared leadership model called a dyad. The dyad is focused on collaboration, standardization, quality, safety, reliability and patient experience."

The hospital dyads include:

* Wendy Piascik, VPPCS, and Harry Alberti, M.D., MBA, ACMO Cape Coral Hospital

* Holly Muller, VPPCS, and Jonathan Velez, M.D., ACMO Gulf Coast Medical Center

* Cindy Brown, VPPCS, and Eric Appelgren, M.D., MBA, ACMO HealthPark Medical Center

* Jennifer Higgins, VPPCS, and Scott Wolf, D.O., MPH, ACMO Lee Memorial Hospital

In addition to these dyads with newly-hired ACMOs, Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida also has a shared leadership model with the dyad of Susan Ryckman, VPPCS and K. Frontier Airlines announces three new destinations from Fort Myers

The Lee County Port Authority reports that Frontier Airlines has announced three new nonstop destinations from Fort Myers. Frontier Airlines will begin service from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) to:

* Grand Rapids, Mich. (GRR) Starting Dec. 10.

* Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) Starting Nov. 1.

* Omaha, Neb. (OMA) Starting Nov. 2.

Chef Ryan Love named director of retail operations at Norman Love Confections

Norman Love Confec-tions has announced that Chef Ryan Love has been appointed director of retail operations. In his new role, Love will be responsible for managing all retail operations for Norman Love Confections, which includes employee hiring and training, maintaining merchandising standards and improving overall product knowledge and guest satisfaction.

As the son of Norman Love, Ryan was raised learning the craft of pastry-making from his father, and soon became involved at Norman Love Confections as a chocolatier, producing ultra-premium confections and other chocolate products. A graduate of Fort Myers High School, Ryan received a bachelor's degree in restaurant management from the University of Central Florida before choosing to further his education at the French Pastry School in Chicago. He worked his way through pastry school as a pastry cook at The Peninsula in Chicago.

After completing the program at French Pastry School, Ryan returned to Norman Love Confections as a pastry chef where he was responsible for producing assorted European cakes and individual gourmet pastries each day.

His other responsibilities included developing and implementing training programs for new staff members, and being involved in all stages of the creation of new products from development to retail.
