Elks Lodge presents $1,500 to Cape Coral Caring Center

Lodge 2596 is celebrating the Elks 150th year anniversary by providing a $1,500 grant to the Cape Coral Caring Center. The funds will be used to provide food to the needy families in Cape Coral.

The Anniversary Grant process is competitive and the local Elks Lodge is one of several lodges nationwide to be awarded the funding from the Elks National Foundation.

The check presentation was held Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Caring Center, which is located at 4645 S.E. 15th Ave.

Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meet the needs of today's veterans, and improve quality of life.

"I am extremely proud to present these much needed funds to the Cape Coral Caring Center," said James Purin, Exalted Ruler of Cape Coral Elks Lodge 2596. "We have had a good relationship with the Center over the years and we expect to continue to provide them with Elks assistance whenever possible," said Thomas Bellini, Chairman, Board of Directors and project leader.

The Cape Coral Caring Center was founded in 1990 to provide food, money and referral assistance to families in critical need to cope with an unforeseen circumstance on a short term basis. Caring Center Executive Director, Julie Ferguson said " We are so thankful for the Anniversary Grant from the Cape Coral Elks Lodge. We will distribute approximately 600 Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to local families that find themselves in need during the holiday season. It is always so wonderful to be able to provide a nice dinner to make everyone's holiday season bright."
