Bacchus joins Physicians' Primary Care of Southwest Florida

Dr. Melissa Bacchus has joined Physicians' Primary Care of Southwest Florida as a pediatrician.

Bacchus earned her doctor of medicine degree from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. Her residency was completed at Charleston Area Medical Center at West Virginia University in Charleston.

She has worked as a pediatrician in private practice for the past 10 years in Charleston, W. Va.

She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.

July passenger traffic numbers increase at Southwest Florida?International Airport

During July, 530,428 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Fla., an increase of 9.6 percent compared to July 2016. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 2.6 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in July was Delta Air Lines with 126,717 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (116,242), American (97,313), JetBlue (60,711) and United (44,087).

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) had 4,826 aircraft operations, an increase of 8.9 percent compared to July 2016. Page Field saw 6,681 operations, a 12.7 percent decrease from July 2016. In addition, slightly more than 2.5 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in July 2017, an increase of 6.2 percent compared to July 2016.

Southwest Florida International Airport served 8.6 million passengers in 2016 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. Augustine joins MNMW

Alta Resources to hire over 600 seasonal employees

The Lee County Bar Association Foundation Inc. is holding its inaugural fundraiser - A Guided Wine Tasting Event on Saturday, Aug. 26, in downtown Fort Myers. Proceeds benefit the Lee County Bar Association Foundation.

The purpose of the foundation is to:

1. Promote provision of legal aid to the indigent;

2. Support charitable endeavors benefitting youth and/or benefitting the underprivileged population;

3. Encourage and promote education and community awareness of the law;

4. Provide for the establishment of scholarships.
