Traffic detoured on Country Club Boulevard due to irrigation main break

Northbound lanes in the 3200 block of Country Club to remain closed to traffic tonight

July 10, 2017
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Update:

The northbound lanes in the 3200 block of Country Club will remain closed to traffic tonight while crews continue working on the 20-inch irrigation main break. Repairs are expected to take longer due to the location of the main, which is sitting on rock. The detour will be posted, and drivers should exercise caution when traveling through the area.

Original post:

An irrigation main break earlier this morning has caused damage to Country Club Boulevard. Northbound traffic at the 3200 block of Country Club is being diverted while repairs are being made. A 20-inch main break spilled a significant amount of reclaimed wastewater into the road and neighboring residential properties. The water damaged about 25 30 feet of the right lane of northbound Country Club Boulevard as well as a stretch of sidewalks at the same location.

City crews are working to repair the break and fix the road damage. The left lane for northbound traffic may be reopened later this evening if repairs can be completed sufficiently to permit safe access to the lane.
