Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Lee County will host two international softball teams for summer training events this June.

The German National Softball Team will conduct a training program in Fort Myers from June 2-10, and the Nova Scotian Provincial Softball Team will be here June 5-10. Both teams will use the Lee County Parks & Recreation's CenturyLink Sports Complex and City of Palms Park throughout their stay.

The two training camps will see up to 54 international players and coaches travel to Lee County in preparation for upcoming competitions. Of those, 24 German National Team members will prepare for their 2017 European Softball Champion-ships in Milan, Italy, while 24-30 Nova Scotia Provincial team members will prepare for the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The two training events will bring further awareness to Lee County as a top-notch sports tourism destination, drawing teams from around the world to experience the attractions and amenities of the region.
