Witness the miracles of Jesus, the Last Supper, betrayal and trial by Pilate, the crucifixion and resurrection.
The North Shore Alliance Church, at 330 W. Mariana Ave. in North Fort Myers will again host to one of the biggest and best passion plays in Southwest Florida as the fifth-annual "Passion Experience" takes place on the outdoor boardwalk this Friday and Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Dress rehearsals began this week and will continue until the play opens.
Every year, hundreds of people come to witness the story of Jesus, who paid for our sins with his death and resurrection, and the reason Easter is celebrated by Christians worldwide.
The free event is the only such outdoor drama in the area, where visitors can come walk the grounds and experience scenes with the help of a tour guide dressed as a shepherd.
Pastor Tim Richter started performing the Passion Experience in Tallahassee 15 years ago and at his previous church in Port St. Lucie.
When he came to North Shore and saw the nine acres of woods the church has, he thought it was would be perfect place to do the show again, which he started in 2013.
Richter continues to make improvements to the show which has gotten bigger each year. It has added a stage, an amphitheater for the Last Supper and arrest, another for the resurrection, and even brought in a horse for the soldier who take Jesus to custody.
Visitors will be broken into groups and will leave every 10 minutes and proceed through seven stations to see the life, death and resurrection of Jesus come to life.
Five volunteer actors will play the role of Jesus - Richter, Torrey Mitchell, John Manning, Dan Hetrick and Jessie Beougher. All told, about 70 people will take part.
