"Understanding Tax Certificate & Tax Deed Sales" seminar March 18

Lee County Tax Collector Larry Hart and Lee County Clerk of Circuit Court Linda Doggett will present a free seminar on the sale and purchase of tax certificates and tax deeds Saturday, March 18, at the Lee County Elections Center, 13180 S. Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers.

Topics for the "Understanding Tax Certificate & Tax Deed Sales" program include "What is a Tax Certificate versus a Tax Deed?", "How to purchase and redeem a Tax Certificate/Tax Deed," How to transfer a Tax Certificate," "How to apply for a Tax Deed" and "Why it's important to conduct your own research."

Walker earns designation of Certified Public Relations Counselor

Jessica Walker, APR, CPRC, of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, recently earned professional certification in public relations and received the designation of Certified Public Relations Counselor.

Earning the CPRC designation distinguishes senior members of FPRA who have demonstrated understanding and mastery of core public relations principles and practices and have been certified to act as public relations counselors. Currently, there are 107 CPRCs in Florida, including 14 in Southwest Florida.

Walker is the marketing and public relations manager for Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Company. She has 16 years of public relations experience with various organizations, and is an active community volunteer with a number of organizations.

To earn the CPRC credential, candidates must have 10 years of experience in the field; have earned the first tier of accreditation, the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential; successfully complete a verbal presentation; and pass a five-hour written exam.

ABWA Cape Coral Caloosa Chapter to meet March 17

The Cape Coral Caloosa Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will meet Friday, March 17, at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, 1502 Cape Coral Parkway, E. The program begins at 6 p.m. with intro-network-dinner, followed at 7 p.m. by the program and question and answer period with the speaker, and close with a business meeting from 7:45-8 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Annette Siner of the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral, who will discuss membership in the chamber and its upcoming events,

The cost is $20 per attendee and RSVPs are requested by Sunday, March 12, at abwacapecoral@gmail.com. The cost includes dinner, regular beverage, taxes and tip.

Gray to present free low back pain seminar

Dr. Scott Gray, a specialty-trained physical therapist, will be having a free seminar on low back pain, Wednesday, March 29, from 6:15-7 p.m., at the Allied Physical Therapy office at 1413 Viscaya Parkway Cape Coral, FL, 33990. Nathan's Famous Fort Myers to hold Hot Dog Eating Contest qualifier March 25

Registration is now open for a sanctioned qualifier in Southwest Florida for the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Contest at Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. The event is free for participants and spectators, and will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Germain Arena, 11000 Everblades Parkway in Estero.
