Tickets on sale for Bluegrass Jamboree

January 19, 2017

If the first fundraiser was a success, why not do it again?

The Cape Coral Historical Museum had its largest fundraising event ever when it was decided to start a Bluegrass Jamboree a year ago. Even though it went up against unseasonable heavy rains, it still thrived.

"We expected about 300 people to attend last year and we were one of the few events during the rain that held together," said the museum's Chris Schroeder.

The second annual Bluegrass Jamboree is Jan. 28 at the museum grounds in Cultural Park, 544 Cultural Park Blvd. It runs from noon to 5 p.m. with three bands set to perform.

"It's an outdoor event, so bring your own lawn chairs," said Schroeder. "Families are welcome and so are service dogs only."

Capt. Joe & the Bottom Feeders begin the entertainment at 12:30 p.m. Swinging Bridge takes the stage at 2 p.m. followed by Bluegrass Gals at 3:30. Longtime writer, music producer and radio host Dick Spottswood will emcee the jamboree.

Barbecue will be served by Bubba's Roadhouse. Vendors will sell beer, wine and soda. Trafalgar Middle School's garden club students will have homemade desserts for sale.

"That's good because not only does the museum benefit, but the community benefits," said Schroeder. "The museum has had other fundraisers, but not of the magnitude of the Bluegrass Jamboree. Last year was such a success we decided to make it an annual event and we're happy about that."

Tickets to the jamboree are $15 in advance and available at the museum, by phone at 239-772-7037, or online at www.capecoralhistoricalmuseum.org. Admission will be $20 on the day of the event. VIP tickets are available at $50 in advance or $60 at the event.

The museum has extended its operating hours this year. Volunteer tour guides are available on Wednesday through Friday 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5.
