The first day of school is on Wednesday, Aug. 10, which is right around the corner, which also means time is running out for parents and kids to prepare.

To help families prepare for the 2016-17 school year, the Lee County School District has created kind of a "one-stop shop" and an app for all a family's Back to School information needs, from information on the school your child will attend, to the route your bus will take to school.

The annual Back to School section is on its Web site, , and on its branded app, available in the App Store for Apple devices and the Play Store for Android devices.

"This is something we do every year. We try to put in school supply lists, bell times, dress codes, programs and studies for the schools," said Jennifer DeShazo of Lee County Public Schools. "Everything is there. We just wanted a centralized location for any kind of FAQ. They can get it answered there."

The Back to School section, which the district has done for about a decade, contains links to the most requested and popular areas of the Web site, including lunch menu information, school supply lists, school bell times, registration information and much more.

Want to know the dress codes of a particular school or if you need to buy a uniform? You can search the site so you know what clothes to buy before school starts.

If you're one of the select few school without a free lunch program, there is a link for parents to apply for free or reduced lunch.

The goal is to provide as much information in one, centrally located and easy-to-use place as possible.

The app, introduced just a couple years ago, adds even more convenience as it pulled directly from the district website. As a result, more parents are using it than ever.

"If you're not home and have no access to a computer, you can pull up that information from the app," DeShazo said.

However, if there is anything that a family is looking for but cannot find in the 2016-17 Back to School section, they should contact their child's school directly as that is the best source of information for each school.

Also, bus information for the charter schools must be obtained through the charter school systems.

DeShazo said there is also a supply list of what a student may need.

To find the site, go to and click on the Back to School link.

To download the district's app and access Back to School information on the go, families should search for "Lee County Public Schools" in the app store for their device. The app is free and is black and gold in color.
