*** Immunization clinic hours change

The Department of Health in Lee County's immunization department has new hours.

The new hours for the immunization department are Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Clients will continue to be seen on a walk-in basis. A limited number of appointments are also available.

Travel vaccines and counseling are available only by appointment and only Tuesday to Thursday.

The immunization department location has not changed and is at 3920 Michigan Avenue, Fort Myers. Appointments for immunizations or travel vaccines can be made by calling 239-461-6100.

*** New caregiver support group

The Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center has announced the addition of a new caregiver support group in Cape Coral.

This new group meets the third Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Grace Church, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral. Respite is provided at the church, by a licensed healthcare professional along with trained volunteers, for your loved one with memory impairment, while you attend the support group with its licensed clinical social worker. Respite for your loved one includes important socialization, music, art and on occasion pet therapy. Snacks are also provided. Grace Church has offered to provide respite at no cost.

The caregivers support group meetings provides an opportunity for caregivers to meet others who are facing similar challenges related to Alzheimer's disease and other neurocognitive disorders (dementias), discuss effective coping strategies, and other pertinent caregiving issues. Educational material and community resources are also available.

*** Senior Companion Program seeks volunteers

The Senior Companion Program, where volunteers provide companionship and friendship to frail elderly individuals who are homebound and generally living alone. is seeking volunteers.

Seniors who volunteer receive:

* Tax-free Stipend of $2.65/hr.

* Mileage reimbursement of $.40/mile

* Paid Holiday, Vacation, & Sick leave
