* Seniors awarded scholarships to Florida SouthWestern State College

In partnership with Florida SouthWestern State College, The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools awarded a $10,000 scholarship to two Lee County high school students. Dana Odeh at Cape Coral High School and Chyna Coulanges at Fort Myers Senior High School were surprised at their school after being recommended by their school counselors.

The scholarships were awarded in an effort to encourage more students to take the next step after graduation, as part of The Foundation's FutureMakers program. High school seniors that have completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid were eligible to receive the scholarships. Students at Cape Coral High and Fort Myers Senior High were selected after both schools showed the greatest increase in the number of students completing the FAFSA from 2015-16. The surprises took place on Senior Decision Day when high school seniors were encouraged to wear something that represents their chosen college, technical school, or military branch.

"A big thank-you goes out to Marshall (Browder) and his crew for making one of our Cape Coral High School students' day!" says Scott Cook, principal at Cape Coral High School. "Dana Odeh received a $10,000 scholarship to FSW and Cape Coral High is extremely proud of her. She is well-deserving of this great opportunity."
