Book lovers, bring boxes...

April 21, 2016
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

One of our favorite fundraisers is taking place at the Cape Coral Library today and Saturday, The Friends of the Cape Coral Library used book sale.

And not just any used book sale - more than 10,000 books will fill tables by the score.

Novels. Classics. Cookbooks.

Home, garden, craft, history, religion, philosophy, self-help, art, entertainment and other special-topic books by the hundreds.

Books for children, books for young adults and lots of DVDs and CDs to boot.

All priced at bargain rates, $2 and less for most.

It's a great sale for a great cause. The Friends use the money raised to support the Cape library with a variety of needs by providing equipment and paying for a plethora of programs.

The Friends also organize the library's art gallery exhibits and, helps, with the Garden Club of Cape Coral, to maintain the butterfly garden.

The book sales are a major fundraiser for these efforts and they are always worth a visit. Insiders, in fact, always bring a box or two, although organizers usually have some on hand for all those bargains.

The sale began for members on Thursday and continues today for the public from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the large meeting room. Just follow the signs.

And if you can't go?

Consider donating some of your already-read books for the next sale; gently used hardcover and paperbacks are always welcome. It's as simple as leaving them at the circulation desk or calling the Friends Hotline at 349-2572 if you have a bunch you would like picked up.

Or consider joining The Friends, one of the many volunteer groups that have done a great deal of good in our community.
