* Scholarship Gala and Spring Golf Classic

On Friday and Saturday, April 8-9, Hodges University will host the 2016 Scholarship Gala and Spring Golf Classic benefiting the Hodges University Men in Higher Education Scholarship Fund and the Scholarship Assistance for Veterans Education Fund. The event will be held at The Club at Grandezza in Estero.

Serving as this year's Scholarship Gala presenting sponsor is LeeSar. Bob and Linda Simpson will serve as honorary chairs of the event. Beginning Friday evening at 6 p.m., guests will be greeted by a jazz ensemble, stilt walkers, mimes, gourmet cuisine and specially selected premium boutique wines. In addition, silent and live auction items including vacations and gourmet dinners will be available for interested bidders.

On Saturday, April 9, guests will prepare to tee off at the Spring Golf Classic. Val Ward Cadillac will serve as this year's tournament presenting sponsor, and Danny Pate, vice president of operations at CenturyLink, will serve as honorary chair. Registration and luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1:15 p.m. Entry into the golf tournament includes green fee, cart, player luncheon, player gift and seating at the tournament awards reception, which will be held at the end of play.

Currently, Hodges' Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center assists 222 students consisting of veterans and dependents. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Interested individuals may sponsor either the Scholarship Gala or Spring Golf Classic. Combined event sponsorships are also available and include one golf foursome and a table for eight at the Scholarship Gala.

* Summer Arts Camp scholarships

The Alliance for the Arts is now accepting scholarship applications for its award winning Summer Arts Camp. Scholarships are awarded based on need for pre-K through 6th grade students. Submission of a formal application is required for a child to be considered for a full or partial scholarship.

This is the 28th year the Alliance has offered the camp, which features eight themed weeks that engage kids in visual and performing arts in a fun and interactive environment. Go to to complete the application online call 239-939-2787 for more information.
