Building the foundation for economic recovery

January 22, 2016
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The city of Cape Coral's primary economic driver is once again revving its engine.

With property valuations ticking upward at a healthy rate and population numbers again on the climb, new construction is beginning to rebuild the city's economic base.

That's good news for those of us who live or work here and it's great news for those looking to move in or move up.

In the first quarter of the new fiscal year, local builders pulled 260 permits. A year ago, the number from October through December was 159.

The figures illustrate growing consumer confidence in the Cape.

An event that kicks off today shows the construction industry not only shares that view but is willing to invest in it.

Featuring 25 builders and 26 homes, the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association's 2016 Builders' Showcase of Homes will open today at various locations, giving residents and would-like-to-be residents alike an opportunity to tour what the CCCIA is promoting as "the best of the best" among new home options.

The two-dozen-plus models will be available for viewing Jan. 22 through Jan. 24; Jan. 29 through Jan. 31; and Feb. 5 through Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

For those looking to build or just looking to buy, the annual Showcase is a good way to get a comprehensive look at what's out there and at what price.

The CCCIA Builders' Showcase of Homes cover sums up the Cape's current market: "You only thought you knew Cape Coral... come see us NOW!"
