A Stretching/Toning and Self Defense Class will begin Oct. 22 at the the Lake Kennedy Center.

Jack Harrah of the Kontrol Room Martial Fitness studio, a Cape Coral Police endorsed dojo, will demonstrate how seniors can stay fit and safe through simple exercises and strategies. He will explain and train the use of the Har-Ki for self-defense and exercise. Physical therapists around the country recommend using martial arts for exercises as an effective regimen for stretching, muscle toning and therapeutic treatment.

Regardless of one's physical prowess or tactical knowledge, the Har-Ki system can reveal in an efficient and effective manner the abilities required to help seniors out of a potentially life-threatening situations, at the same time, increasing flexibility, awareness, core strength, and lateral muscle toning.

Fee for the classes to be held Thursdays from 8 to 9 a.m. is $1 per member and $2 per non-member.
