Congratulations...and many thanks!

Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Breeze is happy to have had a role again this week in a pair of outstanding community-sponsored education recognition programs.

We published the Mayors Scholarship Fund Award program book, included in the weekday Breeze on Wednesday and distributed Thursday at the annual awards banquet. The program highlighted the accomplishments of 26 outstanding students this year, each the recipient of a $1,500 scholarship awarded through one of the city's oldest scholarship programs.

We also sponsored for the second year running the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education Awards dinner held Monday night at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre. The program recognized 30 students and educators - one each from schools of all levels serving Cape Coral - along with seven seniors who received $1,000 scholarships toward their college educations.

The scholarships awarded by the Mayors Scholarship program are made possible through numerous fundraisers held by the organization now celebrating its 33rd year as well as from donations made by the sponsoring businesses.

The Chamber's recognition program, 23 years strong, and its scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the business community which, through good times and bad, has managed to dig deep to make futures a little brighter.

We congratulate all of the honorees of both programs who, through academic achievement, school and community involvement, volunteerism and just plain hard work and dedication - especially by the educators recognized - have earned the honors bestowed.

We also thank the volunteers and sponsors who make these programs and others like them possible. They are numerous and we are privileged to be among them:

The efforts of all of these community organizations and the volunteers of which they are comprised are commendable as they recognize - and reward - hard work, talent and yes, ambition, the key ingredients to future success.

Thank you.
