Local McDonald’s restaurants recognize top managers, crew members of the year

Local McDonald's owner-operators recently honored their top employees in Charlotte, Lee, Collier and Hendry counties. Carol Surgeon of Cape Coral, who works at the Santa Barbara McDonald's restaurant, which is independently owned and operated by Fred and Tim Frederic, received the third-place award for Crew Member of the Year.

Surgeon has worked with the McDonald's brand for 35 years. She started her McDonald's career in Baltimore to pay for braces for her three children. She quickly moved up the ladder to restaurant management. Upon moving to Florida, she decided to go back to being a crew member, which let her spend more time interacting with customers.

"I've been told many times that I made their day and I put a smile on their face," Surgeon said of her customers. "I wear a lot of holiday getups and crazy things, but most of all they appreciate my genuine interest in them."

"We are lucky to have Carol as an employee, and she wholeheartedly deserves this honor," said Tim Frederic, who owns and operates nine McDonald's restaurants in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, including the location where Surgeon works. "Her genuine love for her customers keeps them coming back to the restaurant."

Luis Garcia and Sabrina Bibart were named the first- and second-place Crew Member of the Year winners, respectively. Britany Cox, Maria Villalobos and Doris Schiffner were named the top three Shift Managers of the Year winners.
