Stephen Charles Edwards, 66, a Cape Coral resident since the early 2000s, formerly of Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, in Cape Coral. He was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Key West, Fla., to William and Doris Edwards, now deceased.
He received his master's degree in counseling from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., in 1976. He worked for many years as a counselor and then later as a salesman in a variety of fields. When he moved to Cape Coral, he became active in the Moose Lodge, VFW and Epiphany Episcopal Church. He loved living in South Florida and was proud to be a "Conch" native. He enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling, and will be remembered for his good sense of humor and his loving and caring nature.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Alison J. Edwards and her fianc, Darick Alexander, of Charlotte, N.C., and Laura E. (Matthew) Herring of Raleigh, N.C.; his granddaughter, Ansley Alexander, also of Charlotte; his beloved companion of over 15 years, Willa Forrester of Cape Coral; the mother of his two daughters, Marsha Edwards, of Indian Trail, N.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two siblings, Judy Powers and William "Bill" Edwards.
Memorial services were held Sunday, Aug. 31, at Mullins Memorial, 1056 N.E. 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
