Baker sweeps Lehigh 3-0

Making up for the absence of a sick teammate in the lineup Tuesday night, Ida Baker pulled together to defeat Lehigh in a straight-set match 25-10, 25-13, 25-12.

Amanda Gross led the Bulldogs with 11 kills. Devon Ramey and Ashley Vargas each contributed seven kills to the cause. Ramey also served up four aces to go with 15 assists and Vargas added three aces with two blocks and six digs.

"We had a lot of girls playing different positions tonight," said Bulldogs coach Rene Van Horn. "They did what they had to do."

The Bulldogs (3-0) travel to Estero on Thursday.

Island Coast 3, Mariner 1: Mariner raced out to take the first game Tuesday night, but Island Coast responded to the challenge to post a 15-25, 25-13, 25-10, 25-23 victory Tuesday night.

"It was a tough loss tonight," said Tritons coach Brigid Zalesak. "It was a great effort by both teams. Island Coast had a few great servers that really tested our defense. Our girls fought hard but could not pull out a victory."

Island Coast visits Estero Wednesday with Mariner traveling to Lely on Thursday.

Boys Golf

At Miramar Lakes: Facing two teams with less than a full squad of players, Ida Baker (203) coasted to victory Tuesday over South Fort Myers and Dunbar.

Bulldogs coach Scott Conforte went deep on his roster for Clayton Lambing (48) and Ben Hunt (49) to lead the victory.

South's Jonah Manning was the day's medalist with a 42.

The Bulldogs (2-2) host Mariner and Island Coast at Palmetto Pines Wednesday in a match originally scheduled for Thursday.

Ida Baker 203 - Clayton Lambing 48, Ben Hunt 49, Michael McGarty 52, T.J. Clapp 54.

South Fort Myers N/S - Jonah Manning 42, Chad Radford 48, Trey Sommers 53.

Dunbar N/S - Jose Quinones DNF.

Girls Golf

At Magnolia Landings: Rain cut Tuesday's round to just five holes with Madison Lampkins leading North Fort Myers to a 119-135 victory over Cypress Lake.

Lampkins' round was 25 backed by Michelle Burkham with 27 for the Knights.

Bowling

Ida Baker vs. Lehigh: Evan Baranecky was the high scorer Tuesday in leading Baker to a 998-645 victory at Lehigh Bowland.

Cape Coral vs. Cypress Lake: Parker Pentiuk rolled a high game of 215 Tuesday at Gator Lanes to lead Cape Coral past Cypress Lake 3-2. Kaela Ruby's game of 194 topped the girls' scores in a 3-2 loss to the Panthers. Cape takes on Dunbar on Thursday at Pin Street Lanes.
