Public asked to assist in investigation of dog thrown from car

Lee County Domestic Animal Services is conducting an investigation involving a dog allegedly thrown from a late-model, dark blue BMW at the intersection of Northeast 24th Avenue and Pine Island Road. A witness reported that the incident occurred during the evening hours of Aug. 4.

The 10-month-old, white, female terrier mix was taken to Animal Services' shelter where she was treated for an injury to her hind leg. She is now in foster care.

Anyone who recognizes this dog or has information regarding her owner is asked to call Animal Services at (239) 533-7387, ext. 2, or contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS.

Anonymous complaints are accepted.
