To the editor:
As a former Lee County School Board Member, I have been disturbed and, at times, outraged by the rapid decline in student achievement and poor decision making over the last four years under the leadership of the current School Board majority (Fisher, Armstrong and Scott). Not only did the Lee County School District drop from being rated as an "A" to a "C" School District, but they overspent their allocated budget by $20-plus million per year with nothing to show for it.
Our students, parents and community members deserve better. "More of the same" won't get us there. Leadership begins at the top with Board Members who understand and can make decisions from successful high level leadership and management experience.
That is why I am endorsing Carla Ronco for the District 1 School Board Seat.
Having been a teacher and built a successful real estate business from scratch, Carla Ronco has the perfect combination to be able to understand and make informed decisions in bringing the District back to one that was recognized as one of the highest performing districts in the State.
Carla Ronco is a good thinker, has outstanding business acumen, does her homework in order to make informed decisions, and is passionate about quality schools. She will be totally focused on what is best for students.
