Dr. Kyra Beln
Paintings by artist, author, mythologist and art historian Dr. Kyra Beln will be on exhibit. Dr. Beln, who describes her artistic style as "magic realism," received her B.F.A. at Arizona State University and her M.F.A. at Florida State University, both degrees in visual arts. Her Ed.D. from Florida International University is in higher education and art history.
Dr. Beln was a professor of art and art history and a founding gallery director at Broward College for two decades. She has had over 50 solo art exhibitions and has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Who's Who in American Art, 19902013. She is the author of several published books on art history and also a novel entitled Lucid Future.
Artwork by Kathy Kuser will be on exhibit on the gallery walls. She brings a fresh and contemporary twist to surrealism. Using her skills as a graphic designer, Kuser creates 2D/3D digital images.
The artist describes her creative process as follows: "Through a mystical and fantasy driven vision, a story emerges from my canvas. I use stark details with transitional blending; thus my art takes flight."
Mini De-lights Miniature Club
Mini De-lights Miniature Club will show their work in the cases. The group meets monthly in Fort Myers and is comprised of people of all ages, backgrounds and experience that have one important thing in common - a love for all things small!
Creating miniatures involves various aspects such as woodwork, polymer clay, fabrics and paper craft, to name just a few. Fellow hobbyists and fans have been anticipating this exhibit and will no doubt be delighted with the display.
"Make It and Take It" event
The Mini De-Lights will hold a "Make It and Take It" event in the small conference room at the Cape Coral Library Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 2 p.m. Members of the club will demonstrate how to create a miniature item and will give visitors a "hands-on" opportunity to make one to take home. Admission is free, and supplies will be provided at no charge.
