William A. Battistini, 79, of Cape Coral, and formerly of Warwick, R.I. passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014. He was the loving husband for 54 years to Mary Lou (Rosenbeck) Battistini. He was born in Providence, R.I., June 5, 1935, a son of Consiglia & Frank Battistini. He has been a resident of Cape Coral for 14 years. Prior to moving to Florida, he was president of NIF Services of R.I., a Surplus Lines Insurance Agency. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School in Hartford, Conn., and attended The University of Connecticut. He spent many years as a CPCU in the insurance industry. He was also a proud veteran of The United States Air Force. He was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, he was the building manager of the Cape Coral Sail & Power Boat Club, a member of the Merry Mariners Boat Club, a member of the Elks Club #2596 and a member of the Volunteer Police Marine Unit, patrolling the water ways in Cape Coral, and Eagles Aerie 3957.
Along with his wife Mary Lou, he is survived by his sister, Ida Ducey (Harold) of West Hartford; sister-in-law, Carroll Rosenbeck and Richard Gaskill of Vernon, Conn.; brother-in-law, John Rosenbeck (Bonnie) of Cape Coral; and brother-in-law, Richard Rosenbeck (Marianne) of Columbia, S.C. He leaves five nieces, Kippy Spinelli, Holly Jensen, Donna Bole, Andrea Sweeney and Stephanie Albernethy and one nephew, Paul Ducey, He leaves one uncle, Angelo Torromeo; several grandnieces; grandnephews; cousins; and dear friends.
He was predeceased by a second nephew, Richard Rosenbeck of Atlanta.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday June 21, at St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral. The family will receive friends for viewing this evening from 6-8 p.m., at Fuller Metz Funeral Home.
