Two Time World Champion Sensei George Kotaka will hold a Kumite (Sport Sparring) Seminar Monday, June 30, at Southside Christian Church, 7800 College Parkway, Fort Myers.
The seminar, hosted by Kurokawa Martial Arts, will start at 10 a.m., and continue until 4 p.m. Sensei Kotaka will be joined by Sensei Dave Roth, AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Region 4 Director; Soke Timothy Brooks, founder of Kurokawa Budo Kai; and Shihan Carmen Diaz.
Sensei Kotaka is the most decorated American male karate athlete in history. He tested his skills on a national level at the 1988 AAU National Championships in Richmond, Va., where he won gold medals in kobudo, kata and kumite. In 1996, he made the USANKF national team. Since then he has won at the WKF Jr. World, Pan American, Pan Am Games, World Collegiate and most notably, two World Karate Federation gold medals and a bronze medal. The public is invited to attend and learn about sport sparring and what it takes to be a world champion.
