Next month's roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages.

The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

English Caf

6 p.m., Tuesdays, June 3, 10, 17, 24

10 a.m., Fridays, June 6, 13, 20, 27

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

Craft Corner: Knitting and Crocheting

3:30 p.m., Mondays,

June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Get creative and make a handmade treasure. Instruction and materials will be provided for newcomers, or bring a project to work on.

Chess Anyone?

Rise to the chess challenge and join in the fun. Bring a personal chess set, if preferred.

Books & Banter: Classics

Just what makes a work a 'classic'? In general, classics usually express some artistic quality [an expression of life, truth and beauty]; stand the test of time; have a certain universal appeal; and make connections for the readers. Examples include "Jane Eyre," "To Kill a Mockingbird," "Animal Farm," "Great Expectations," "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," "The Grapes of Wrath," "Catch-22" and "Slaughterhouse-Five." What are some of your favorite classics?

FAMILIES

Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

10 a.m., Wednesday, June 25

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants.

Family Storytime

10 a.m., Thursday, June 26

This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes.

Kids Read Down Fines

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading, during the allotted time. A total of $8 per day may be earned. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only. Bring your library card with you. Your library card or library card number is required in order to access your account.
