With three seasons under its belt, the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida is launching a fund-raising effort in conjunction with the May 21 anniversary of its start as an independent choral music group.
The Chorale this month will send out solicitation letters asking for donations from the community to help pay for operating and other expenses. The anniversary financial appeal will kick off with a slice-of-cake sale Saturday, May 17, at the Green Market on the grounds of the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, starting at 9 a.m. The suggested cost of a slice is $3.
The Chorale is working to build a strong financial base that will allow it to annually present outstanding choral music and establish a core fund for program and organizational development. A dream of the Chorale is to gain enough financial support to provide free masterworks concerts to the community.
Donations, which are tax deductible, may be sent to Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida, PO Box 07105, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
Information about the group is available on its web site, symphonicchorale.org.
Although the Chorale was incorporated in 2011, it has a long music history. Many of its singers were former members of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Chorus, an ensemble of 80 to 100 vocalists that performed with the Symphony for nearly 50 years. Concerts this past season included works by Michael Haydn and Vivaldi.
