To the editor:
Dane Eagle was elected to the Florida House of Representatives because he's smart, articulate, and extremely energetic. He's a life-time resident of Southwest Florida and he is absolutely committed to bringing all the best to the communities he serves. During the time he has served us, Dane Eagle has brought his all to the job.
He's been hard working, active and innovative and he has shown himself to be everything that he promised and more. His integrity and his honesty has never been brought into question and this is a man who will make Southwest Florida a better place.
But dedicated service is always encouraged by the attitudes of the constituency, the demonstration of appreciation and the applause for extraordinary service.
This is exactly what Mr. Eagle deserves. No, not for an error in judgement late at night. Obviously this is not to his credit, but it certainly does not serve to signal a cause of action that brings to an end the career of an outstanding young man. It's time for all of us to recognize that elected officials are human beings, subject to human frailties, and the unscrupulous piling on by unforgiving holier-than-thou rage mongers absolutely serves no constructive purpose.
Dane Eagle will do great things for Southwest Florida. Get out of his way and let him work!
