Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Cape Coral Police detectives are working a death investigation after workers at a southwest Cape Coral home found a body in a canal Friday morning.

Cape Coral Police, Fire and EMS units responded to a possible drowning report at 933 S.W. 40th Terrace at around 11:20 a.m. Workers at the home found a person, floating face-down in the water, near a seawall.

"The subject appeared to have been in the water for some time and was pronounced dead at the scene," police officials said in a prepared statement.

The body was taken by the Medical Examiner to determine cause of death and identify the subject.

No additional information is being released until a positive identification can be made and next-of-kin can be notified, officials said.
