Disabled Veterans Insurance Careers, dedicated to helping disabled U.S. veterans by providing new opportunities for training and employment in the insurance industry, is looking to hire and provide meaningful professional career opportunities for disabled veterans.

"We are now in the process of identifying qualified disabled veterans for a paid on-the-job training program that will develop long-term sales and customer service skills," said President/CEO Gary Bryant.

"We are pleased to announce that DVIC's training program is now in place," said Gary V. Trippe, co-founder and interim chair. "Our training program is free and we will provide professional career opportunities after the training is complete."

The course curriculum was developed by The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research in Austin, Texas, and Fort Myers-based sales trainer and consultant Lee Knapp.

Passenger totals up 2.8 percent in March

at Southwest Florida Internatonal Airport

During March, 1,147,059 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 2.8 percent compared to March 2013. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 3.3 percent from the same period last year.

"March marked the highest single month for passenger traffic in our 31-year history, culminating in a record-breaking first quarter at RSW," said Robert M. Ball, A.A.E., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. "I want to thank our airline partners, the Transportation Security Administration, Lee County VCB Visitors Services volunteers, rental car companies, Standard Parking, food & beverage and retail concessionaires and Lee County Port Authority staff for working together to make this winter season so successful."

The traffic leader in March was Southwest 246,451 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (243,177), JetBlue (119,242), United (115,270) and US Airways (112,926).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 10,311 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 1.7 percent compared to March 2013. Page Field saw 9,503 movements, an 11.6 percent increase from March 2013. In addition, more than 3.2 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in March 2014, an increase of 5.4 percent compared to March 2013.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 7.6 million passengers in 2013 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. Cypress Cove appoints

new executive director

Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida, a continuing care retirement community located in south Fort Myers, has appointed Michele S. Wasserlauf as executive director. She replaces Joel Anderson, vice president of Cypress Cove's parent company, Lee Healthcare Resources, who has been acting as executive director for the past year during the company's executive search.

She brings 25 years of executive non-profit senior living experience to her new position. Wasserlauf steps into her new role managing the day-to-day operations of Cypress Cove at a time when this 48-acre CCRC is preparing to add a new care facility to their continuum The Memory Care Residences at Cypress Cove.

This new residence is a much needed addition dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of those seniors in the greater Fort Myers community affected by Alzheimer's disease, dementia or memory loss. Ground breaking for The Memory Care Residences is planned for Nov. 15.

Cypress Cove, a not-for-profit organization, opened in 1999, is a continuing care retirement community with regional and national recognition. 19th annual recreation

at Lee County Sports Complex

Region One of the Florida RV Trade Association returns for its19th annual admission-free recreation vehicle show May 2-4,at the Lee County Sports Complex/Hammond Stadium in South Fort Myers. The event will feature 10 dealers from across Florida's gulf coast displaying a wide selection of new, used and leftover recreation vehicles of all styles, brands and price ranges.

RVs on display will include gas and diesel motorhomes, travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels, park models, truck and van campers and folding campers. A number of RV suppliers will also be on hand to provide information on where to camp as well as various other services to enhance campers' outdoor adventures.

Financing for well-qualified buyers will also be available.

Action Automatic Door & Gate celebrating anniversaries

of two long-time employees

Action Automatic Door & Gate offering garage doors and automatic gate systems throughout Southwest Florida is celebrating the anniversaries of team members Dennis Roos and Susan Biser, announced George Ebel, company founder and CEO. Roos, a residential service technician, marked his 25th year with the company April 10, and Biser, the accounting manager, joined the team 20 years ago April 18.

The two started as apprentices and have worked their way up to increasingly more responsible positions. Roos, based in the company's Naples showroom, services and repairs residential garage doors, and is often asked for by name by a number of clients. Biser, who began as an accounting clerk, is at the Fort Myers headquarters and is responsible for payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and other fiduciary functions.

Action Automatic Door & Gate CEO George Ebel founded the business in 1974 with a $100 advertisement in a local newspaper while in college in Toledo, Ohio. A second location was opened in Naples in 1981, and the third, in Fort Myers, opened in 1984. Sixth Annual Cops & Joggers 5K

wins 2014 Local Image Award

The Sixth Annual Cops & Joggers 5K won an Award of Distinction and a Judges' Award at the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association's 2014 Local Image Awards on Tuesday, April 22, at Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers.

The awards were presented to the Fort Myers Police Department and Marie Kennedy of m.creativepr for the department's Sixth Annual Cops & Joggers 5K, an event benefiting organizations that aid the families of first responders who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. With the support of event sponsors, volunteers, local businesses, department employees and Southwest Florida residents, the sixth annual event set records with a total of 841 registered runners and more than $21,000 raised funds.

This year's Cops & Joggers 5K is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers.

FPRA's Local Image Awards competition is conducted annually to recognize outstanding public relations programs in Southwest Florida and to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionals in our area. Entrants must demonstrate innovation, planning, design and execution within budget.
