The search for a missing Cape Coral man ended Sunday with the discovery of a body in the water near the Everest Boat Ramp shortly after 4:30 p.m.

"A boater who was unloading his boat from a day on the water found a person who was unconscious and not breathing, floating in the water by a seawall," Cape Coral police said in a prepared statement.

Investigators confirmed that the deceased male is David Claude Siwarski, 65, of 1423 S.E. 27th Street, officials said.

"The death investigation is ongoing and foul play is not suspected at this time," the release states.

Family members told police Friday that Siwarski had left his home around 6 p.m. on foot and did not come back. Family members initially were not concerned as Siwarski was known to frequently take walks for up to two hours. However, after he had not returned in more four hours, they began to worry, officials said.

Siwarski was on several medications and suffered from aphasia, a brain condition that impacts mental function, police were told.

Cape Coral Police patrol, K9 and Aviation conducted an hours-long search, but were not able to locate Siwarski. A Silver alert was issued.

"The search efforts have been intense since Friday night and we hoped this story would have ended differently," said Det. Sergeant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department public affairs officer, in the statement

He added the department's "thoughts and prayers go out to the Siwarski family."
