Jerry Leon Hobson, 73, of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Tulsa, OK, died Friday, March 21, 2014 in Cape Coral. He was born Dec. 13, 1940 in Tulsa, OK to Thomas and Pearl Hobson, now deceased.
He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was on his first record at the age of 15. He went on to play music professionally throughout the country and internationally, including Las Vegas, California and Greenland. He then opened a pro music store with retail, manufacturing, sound and repair divisions in Montana and Oklahoma. Concerts he worked included BB King, Hank Williams Jr, Albert King, and Johnnie Lee Hooker among others. He enjoyed "hot rodding" and racing cars and motorcycles in his younger days. His sense of humor was one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn Hobson of North Fort Myers; two children, Vicki Healy (Michael) of Cape Coral, Fla., and Steven Hobson of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Patricia Wade and Charlotte Cox both of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, Shaun Healy, Aaron Healy, Brandon Healy and Samuel Hobson; as well as two great grandchildren, Blakelyn and Dakota Healy.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 701 Hutto Road, North Fort Myers, with Michael McKenzie officiating.
