Michael Lespier, 84, of Cape Coral, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Hope Hospice. He was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Emilio Lespier and Nicholasa Gonzalez.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in active duty during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the military, he studied to become an architect draftsman and began his career with JC Penney.
He retired to Cape Coral in 1988, coming from his previous home in New Jersey.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Iraida Lespier; daughter, Yvette Lespier; three grandchildren, Cassandra Portilla Blanchard, David Portilla and Adam Portilla; as well as 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Milagros Gonzalez Bracht, Martha Gonzalez and Isidro Gonzalez; as well as many beloved extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Lespier in 2007.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 24, from 6-8 p.m, at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home on Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral.
The funeral will take place Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m., at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home, followed by interment at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
