Next month's roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

Hoopla and Your iPad

10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1

Join library staff as they demonstrate how to use an iPad to access Hoopla, the library's downloadable movie service. Please bring your iPad, USB and library card. Registration is required.

Chess Anyone?

5:30 p.m. Tuesdays,

April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Rise to the chess challenge and join in the fun. Bring a personal chess set, if preferred. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library.

English Caf

6 p.m. Tuesdays, April 1, 8, 29

10 a.m. Fridays, April 4, 11

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

Craft Corner: Knitting

and Crocheting

Get creative and make a handmade treasure for yourself or for others. Instruction and materials will be provided for newcomers, or you may bring their own project to work on. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library.

Joyful Origami Boxes

10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8

Modular origami involves folding multiple numbers of a single unit and then assembling them without using glue to create a larger origami object. In this class attendees will be making a modular square box with lid designed by Tomoko Fuse, the queen of origami boxes. These small boxes can be used for gifts, to hold trinkets or just to store favorite pieces of jewelry. The library will provide paper and instructions; participants bring the joy and enthusiasm! Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library. Registration is required.

Reader's Choice Book Discussion: Rise and Shine by Anna Quindlen

2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9

Strong on characterization but weaker on plot, Rise and Shine is a tale of two sisters and one city. This is a fun, mildly contrived, satirical New York tale, with a family drama at its heart. [BookBrowse review]

Family Storytime

This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes.

Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

10 a.m. Thursdays,

April 3, 10, 17, 24

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants.

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading, during the allotted time. A total of $8 per day may be earned. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only. Bring your library card with you. Your library card or library card number is required in order to access your account.

Preschool Storytime

11 a.m. Tuesdays,

11 a.m. Wednesdays,

April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) attend this storytime independently while parents or caregivers wait nearby in the library building. This storytime includes activities that require more participation and a longer attention span. Each preschool storytime lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Musical Discovery Zone

11 a.m. Saturday, April 5

Come play with us! In the Musical Discovery Zone, kids interact with musicians from the Gulf Coast Symphony and get to play a variety of instruments. Includes brief performances and a Q&A session. A great hands-on musical experience that's always a ton of fun!
