The German American Social Club is hosting its second Gartenfest of the year Sunday, March 16, on the club grounds on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral.
The outdoor festival runs from noon to 5 p.m., just like the Oktoberfest, and the afterparty moves inside the clubhouse at 5 p.m. with more live music and a full bar.
"The Gartenfest is a mini Oktoberfest," said Gartenfest chairman Tom Samean. "All the same authentic German food and beer as the Oktoberfest is duplicated. We have the same live entertainment, just not by the band that comes over from Germany for the Oktoberfest."
Admission to the festival is $3 per person, children under 12 and parking are free. Proceeds go to the club, which distributes donations to area charities after the Oktoberfest each year.
Live music is provided by Sepp & Heinz while guests enjoy Schnitzel, chicken, German bratwurst, hot dogs and potato pancakes with German and domestic beer, wine and soda. Arts and crafts vendors, door prize drawings and souvenirs will be available as well as a visit by the Jagermeister Girls.
"The Gartenfest is well attended," said Samean, "but we want our guests to be aware of the construction and lane shift on Pine Island Road. Please use caution, watch for the signs and volunteers helping direct traffic. All of the driveways to the club and parking lots will be open."
The club grounds, located at 2101 Pine Island Road, are seven miles west of U.S. 41.
