To the editor:
Former Republican State Rep. Trudi Williams had the courage to write what many members of the Lee County Republican Executive Committee actually believe. The letter Trudi Williams wrote to State Republican Chairman Lenny Curry voices concern regarding Lee County Republican Executive Committee Chairman, Terry Miller, and his dual allegiance as both committee chairman and political consultant which she questions as a possible conflict of interest.
To every voter in Lee County it must certainly be obvious that the chairman of a political party should be absolutely neutral. Terry Miller's clients have included State Representatives Matt Caldwell and Ray Rodrigues along with County Commissioner Brian Hammon. All three are running for political office as Republicans this fall with at least two of them in contested primaries.
Perception is everything in politics. Terry Miller was duly elected as chairman of the Lee County Republican Executive Committee and certainly has every right to keep that important position. However, being a political consultant for those clients mentioned above and at the same time being chairman is like throwing gas on a fire, it's combustible. Terry should make his decision now, either one or the other but not both.
Thanks Trudi Williams!
