Timely hitting and solid relief pitching vaulted Island Coast to a 7-3 victory Wednesday night at Cypress Lake.

A quick assault by Cypress Lake in the first inning forced the Gators to go to the bullpen before the first three outs were recorded. Fortunately for the Gators, the Panthers only managed one run.

Dante Ciminati came through with a two-run double and Nikko Rodriguez contributed to the cause with two hits, including a double, driving in two runs.

The Gators, who finished with a total of 10 base hits, erased the Panthers' early lead with a five-run outburst in the third inning and tacked on two more in the sixth.

Cordell Hale pitched 4 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win on the mound. He allowed just two hits and struck out five.

The Gators (7-1) travel to city rival Ida Baker on Friday.
