Norman James Moore, 68, of Cape Coral, formerly of Portsmouth, N.H., died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Cape Coral. He was born July 3, 1945, in Gray, Maine, to Norman and Arleen Moore, now deceased.
He was a member of the Christian Science Church. He retired as a captain of the Portsmouth Police Department where he served for 22 years. He was a car enthusiast and always had a project under way. He was able to see his final and finest project to its completion, "the '49 Buick Fireball 8." He was a loving husband and father and will forever be remembered for his generosity and unique sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Phyllis Moore of Cape Coral; two children, Norman J. Moore Jr. (Amy) of North Berwick, Maine, and Daniel M. Moore (Sheila) of Naples, Fla.; one brother, Alan Moore (Joan) of Portsmouth, N.H.; two sisters, Jeanne Lincoln (David) of Durham, Maine, and Joyce Baillargeon (Paul) of Franklin, N.C.; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew and Jason Moore of North Berwick, Maine, as well as Miranda and Samantha Moore of Naples, Fla.; mother-in-law, Palma Paola of Portsmouth, N.H.; brother-in-law, David Paola of Portsmouth, N.H.; as well as Carli and Marco, the dogs.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 5, at Greenland Community Congregation Church, 10 Post Road, Greenland, N.H.
