Nocera-Newland wins 'Best in Show' at FPPA Convention

Cherilyn Nocera-Newland, professional photographer and owner of Nocera Photographic, won the prestigious "Best in Show" award in the portraits category at the 2013 Florida Professional Photographers Association (FPPA) Convention for her photograph, "Redneck Yacht Club." The convention was held in Orlando.

The family portrait also won first place in the environmental portraits category, while her photograph, "Great Sand Dunes, Colorado" won first place in the abstract category.

Cherilyn Nocera-Newland, owner and operator of Nocera Photographic in Cape Coral, has been a professional photographer for over two decades.

Bauer joins sales team at Scotland Yard Pest Control

Scotland Yard Pest Control Irrigation and Pool service has welcomed Jeffrey Bauer to its sales team. Originally from Wisconsin, Bauer has been in Lee County since 1985 working in the construction industry.

He will be primarily responsible for commercial and residential accounts, including pest control, irrigation installation and maintenance as well as lawn maintenance.

Germerican German American Bakery & Coffee Club opens

The Germerican German American Bakery and Coffee Club has opened at 1232 Cape Coral Parkway, E., in Cape Coral.

Opened by three German friends living in the Cape who missed the bakery treats from their homeland, the club offers German and European specials - premium bakery products, bread, baguettes, bread rolls, pretzels, croissants, pastries, cakes, German waffles, crepes, salads, sandwiches and wraps, along with coffee, espresso, cappuccino, smoothies and more.

It also features breakfast and lunch.

Hours at Germerican are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m.to 1:30 p.m., Saturday.

Passenger traffic increases at RSW in January

During January, 778,163 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 3 percent compared to January 2013.

The traffic leader in January was Delta with 167,165 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (130,659), JetBlue (83,484), Spirit Airlines (75,525) and US Airways (73,344).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 7,857 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 5.9 percent compared to January 2013. Page Field saw 8,088 movements, a 2.2 percent increase from January 2013. In addition, more than 2.8 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in January 2013, a decrease of 4.8 percent compared to January 2013.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 7.6 million passengers in 2013 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
