Robert Edward Thaler, 76, a Cape Coral resident for the last 12 years, formerly of Maywood, N.J., and Bedford, N.H., passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, in Cape Coral. He was born Nov. 13, 1937, in Long island, N.Y., to George and Esther Thaler, now deceased.
He was the founder, owner and CEO of Granite State Plastics Inc., Londonderry, N.H. He was a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club, Winthrop, Mass. A former Bogota High School basketball star along with lifelong friend, Bart Klim. He was a Bogota High Sschool Hall of Fame inductee 1996 and an avid boating enthusiast and saltwater fisherman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Joan Nelson Thaler of Cape Coral; two loving sons, Robert Thaler Jr. and Richard Thaler, both of Cape Coral; two siblings, William Thaler of Cordova, Tenn., and Frances Kasper of Bedford, N.H.; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as Lulu the wonder dog.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Arthur and George Thaler and Dorothy Kohler.
No formal services are planned.
