Rib City has once again signed on as the official bat boy/girl sponsor for the Boston Red Sox Spring Training games at JetBlue Park.
The locally based barbecue chain will hold an in-house drawing to select two bat boys or girls from those who have registered at any Lee or Collier County Rib City location or at the restaurant's vendor location on-site at JetBlue Park, the Red Sox's 106-acre Spring Training and Player Development Complex located off Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers.
One semifinal winner will be drawn at each of Rib City's 10 Lee and Collier County locations and the ballpark vendor on March 15. Each of these semifinalists win a $50 gift certificate to Rib City. From the group of semifinalists, two winners will be drawn for the opportunity to serve as an honorary bat boy or girl at either the Sunday, March 23 spring home game between the Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m., or the Saturday, March 29 game with the Minnesota Twins at 1:05 p.m. They also receive four free game tickets. Anyone, ages 10-17, may register until March 15.
According to Rib City president Craig Peden, for the third consecutive year, Rib City has signed on as an official concession vendor at JetBlue Park for the 2014 season. Rib City serves as an official concession vendor during Spring Training under Aramark, the Red Sox food and beverage partner and concessionaire. Rib City sells its award-winning baby back ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and sides along Fenway South Drive a street festival reminiscent of Yawkey Way in Boston. The company also supplies a la carte items to the private suites and picnics.
The Rib City concession at the park begins serving on Thursday, Feb. 27, when the Red Sox open the spring season with single-admission doubleheader exhibition games against the Northeastern University Huskies followed by the Boston College Eagles.
The team kicks off the Grapefruit League schedule on Friday, Feb. 28, when the Mayor's Cup rival Minnesota Twins come to JetBlue at 1:05 p.m.
