To the editor:
To Mayor Marni Dilsaver Sawicki? and Councilman Rick Williams. You are both very good friends of mine, and I voted for both of you in 2013. I hereby formally request that one or both of you lay the motion to reconsider Councilman Richard Leon's Second Amendment Resolution.
I know both of you support the Constitution, including the Second Amendment. It seems illogical for both of you to oppose this bill. If, in fact, you find fault in the bill, then work with Councilman Leon to amend it so it keeps its core values and takes out the kinks.
It seems to me that the major argument against the bill is redundancy. And yes, there is redundancy in this bill, let's be honest. You pledged to support the Constitution, and that includes the Second Amendment. This is already de facto law, there is no reason to bring a Resolution to the table.
But that's not the question LAID on the table.
The question on the table is simply "Do you support the Second Amendment?" If that is the case, which I know it is, than the only logical way forward is to vote yes.
I hope that you reconsider your decision to this bill. It is a good bill, one your constituents whole-heartedly support, and one I fear can either harm or hurt you in your reelection bids. Represent your constituents and vote to reconsider this bill.
