Valentine C. Everly, 82, of Cape Coral, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, in Hospice care. He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Butler, Pa., to Valentine and Edna Everly, now deceased.
Mr. Everly served with the Lee County Sheriff's Office from 1963 to 1990, when he retired as a captain. Capt. Everly was assigned to the Cape Coral District, becoming the first and only law enforcement officer before the city was incorporated.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Valentine Everly Jr., Bradley (Faye) Everly, Cindy (Jim) White, Douglas (Dawn) Everly and Todd (Therese) Everly; step-daughters, Donna Manzi and Lori (Joe) Courts; as well as grandchildren, Caira Everly, Amy Everly, Bradley Everly Jr., Misty Everly, Crystal Everly, Ryan Cole Everly, James White, Dara White, Kyle Courts and Shawn Courts.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1-2:30 p.m., at the Fuller Metz Funeral Chapel on Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral. The funeral service will commence at 2:30PM in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hope Hospice at 2430 Diplomat Parkway in Cape Coral, 33909.
