Gutless legislators

To the editor:

Why can't we trust legislators, the answer is obvious. They're just not honest. Everything they do revolves around being politically correct, and never is doing the right thing ever considered.

Let's take Obama Care for instance. Neither those who signed off "yes" or those that voted "no" ever read the law from cover to cover. Talk about violating the public trust -signing a document without fully understanding the contents certainly takes the cake!

And then, these same lawmakers agree that baseball players should be drug tested in order to maintain the integrity of the sport. Baseball, integrity of the sport, they say we've got to keep it clean, and honest, and trust worthy. The game is important and "we must keep it free from violations."

Well, how about integrity, and honesty, and sobriety in government?

Legislators, before every vote affecting the lives of Americans, should be tested for alcohol and drug use. Decisions by lawmakers at every level of government have been termed irrational and irresponsible. And that's because most are capricious and arbitrary. They are not in the best interests of the majority and they don't reflect sane solid reasoning. Should we continue to drug test athletes? Of course, if we believe that honesty and integrity is important in the game. Should we drug test elected officials prior to every life altering vote? Once again, if we want to return respect and admiration to the business of government, this is an absolute must.

At the very least, we must have confidence in the fact that lawmakers are neither drunk or on drugs while doing the people's business. It will be interesting to see which of the lawmakers are willing to support this "doing the right thing" and which will continue to permit pomposity, arrogance and distrust to erode our confidence in the decisions of our elected officials. It's time for the governing bodies to stop babbling and start earning our confidence!
