Declining morals issue not exactly new — or limited to party

January 30, 2014

To the editor:

I cannot agree more with letter writer Buck Hoffman, "Morals declining from the top down."

I am surprised he did not mention the rumored infidelities of JFK. But then he did not mention the rumored affair Ike had with his driver during WW II. Well, Ike was not President at that time so that might make a difference. But he did miss Richard Nixon and the Watergate Scandal where the President was actually impeached for his dirty tricks and dishonesty.

Then there was Ronnie's Iran Contra where his staff illegally sold weapons to Iran and gave the money to the Nicaraguan Contras. Oh, and President Bush started a whole war where thousands have perished with absolutely no provocation and behind the lie of "weapons of mass destruction."

Now, at least with the last two examples Mr. Hoffman could plea that neither President knew anything about the activities. That would be a hard pill to swallow, but then maybe Hillary didn't know about the pleas for more protection at the Libyan embassy either.

You see, we are all human and whether Democrat or Republican we all makes.
