The Florida Everblades will host "Paint the Ice Night" on Feb. 7 when the team takes on the Gwinnett Gladiators at Germain Arena.
Kids-and kids at heart-are invited to stick around after the game and go oto the ice where they will be able to paint their own designs on the ice, resulting in a special canvas that sets a colorful scene for Blades and Gladiators' rematch game the following night.
It is the first time fans will be allowed to personally design a portion of the playing surface for a game at Germain Arena.
Also during the weekend the team will wear special Olympic-themed jerseys to celebrate the opening of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The uniforms were designed by kids at the Golisano Children's Hospital. They will be auctioned live after Saturday's game with the proceeds going to the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation.
The weekend also marks Family Fun Weekend and Carnival to benefit The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, which runs 4 p.m.-7 p.m. each night, featuring bounce houses, face painting, carnival games and live music. There's also a European Car Show Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Carnival and hockey game combo tickets are available for $20 per person, per day. Tickets for Paint the Ice Night and Family Fun Weekend are on sale now at the arena box office 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Road Warriors 5, Everblades 4: The Everblades' losing streak hit a season-high four games Wednesday night as Greenville erupted for three straight goals to storm past the Blades at Germain Arena.
The Blades face the Warriors at Germain Arena once again Friday night in hopes of halting their skid.
