Our beloved Edith Frankel, 92, passed away Jan. 9, 2014, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, after a long, healthy life.
A much-loved and treasured mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, she inspired all who knew her with her unlimited kindness and love of life. She gave of herself unconditionally and with love. She brought elegance and graciousness to all the lives she touched.
She was a great lady, quintessential mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was selfless and self-sacrificing.
She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., May 28, 1921. Her parents were Molly and Nathan Schneider. She married Martin (Marty) Frankel, the love of her life, March 22, 1942, just before he left to serve our country in World War II, after which they did not see each other for three years. They then raised a son, Cary, and daughter, Kristie, moving to Yonkers, N.Y., in 1958. After Marty's retirement, they moved to Cape Coral in 1978.
She was a life-long supporter of and tireless worker for Womens American ORT and numerous other charities.
She leaves behind her son and daughter; their spouses, Kathy and Barrie; and her grandchildren, Brandon, Marshall and Courtney, and their spouses, Gilli, Veronica and Ken, respectively, all who adored her. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Julia, who will forever have a place in their hearts for "Nana."
She will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving, caring person who only saw the good in people. She demanded little, gave so much and will be sorely missed by her many friends and family.
