Four different players scored goals Wednesday night as District 3A-13 Tournament top seed Cape Coral blanked Lemon Bay 4-0 to advance to the championship game on Friday.

The Seahawks (22-2-1) meet city rival Mariner for the championship after the Tritons (17-3-4) disposed of Ida Baker Wednesday night 3-0.

"The boys are calling it El Classico," said Seahawks coach Aldo Nardiello. "That's a tribute to the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, so they are having some fun with it."

The Seahawks and Tritons have staged a number of hard fought, low scoring, spirited matches over the years and this year is no different. The Seahawks won over the Tritons 4-1 earlier this season.

Jonathan Jimenez, Eli Vega, Camillo Avendano and Mateo Arango scored for the Seahawks with Christopher Iturbe, Vega and Kevin Retana credited with assists. Austin Lachmann made three saves in goal to preserve the shutout.

Mariner 2, Ida Baker 0: Mariner goalkeeper Michael Laborde recorded a record 18th shutout on the season Wednesday night against Baker in the District 3A-13 semifinals at Mariner.

The win sets up another rematch between the longtime crosstown rivals on the soccer field Friday with the district championship on the line. Both teams advance to the regional playoffs, but the winner is assured of hosting the quarterfinal match on Jan. 30 while the runner-up goes on the road to start the playoffs.

Austen Hobson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, the first of three by the Tritons in the second half. Steven Schwab and Trevor Jurkowski each contributed one goal and one assist on the night. Laborde had seven saves to record shutout No. 18.

"We had outstanding play tonight from Patrick Kibler, Austin Turner and Isaias Velazquez and Schwab had a stellar night as well," said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas.

District 2A-12: Bishop Verot shut out Dunar 6-0 Wednesday night to advance to the championship game on Friday at LaBelle.

Landon Howell collected two goals to lead the Vikings while Weston Cole, Cullen Duquette, Nathan Powers and Mark Richards each contributed one goal.

Joe Maseros, who finished with a team-high 11 points, hit four free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Marcus Blackwell added nine points with six rebounds and Tyler Tognarine eight points.

"We came together tonight down the stretch," said Seahawks coach Tom Kenna.
